deSPIRIA - VGA Patch Fix

A VGA patch for the SEGA Dreamcast game, deSPIRIA and deSPIRIA Taikenban (Trial Edition).

This patch allows the cult classic Atlus dark rpg deSpiria to run correctly in VGA mode on your SEGA Dreamcast.

About the Patch

Originally, deSpiria does not support VGA output, preventing owners of VGA boxes or cables from playing the game on compatible monitors. This fix enables VGA output, allowing for a sharper, cleaner picture.

Key Features:

• Forces VGA Mode: Allows the game to boot and display correctly on VGA monitors.
• PAL Console Support: Fully compatible with PAL Dreamcast consoles, ensuring the game runs in VGA mode / HDMI adapters on European hardware as well.
• Preserves Gameplay: Does not alter any game mechanics, text, or audio. This is strictly a display output patch.

Installation Instructions

You will need an original GDI dump of deSPIRIA. Patch and download one of the tools.

• For Universal Dream Patcher from https://github.com/DerekPascarella/UniversalDreamcastPatcher and apply the .DCP patch to the original .GDI image.

• For GDIBuilder v2.1.1 from https://projects.sappharad.com/tools/gdibuilder.html Replace the 1ST_READ.BIN file and use the "Patch a copy" option for all files to build the image.

• Run the ready .GDI patched image on one of the ODE.

Note: This patch is specifically for deSPIRIA (T14402M) and deSPIRIA Taikenban (6107925). Please ensure you are applying it to the correct game image.
